Michigan Academy of Gymnastics is now in its 36th competitive year. Its beginnings were with the Rebel Gymnastics Club, founded at Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, during the summer of 1976.
History
Doug Rowe, owner and director, has developed and coordinated the program from
the beginning to include preschool training, classes for all level and ages, and
competitive teams for boys and girls. Doug, a graduate of Wayne State University
and former teacher and coach at Riverside High School, has continually brought
together coaches and dance professionals to provide the best possible experience for the participants.

Michigan Academy of Gymnastics has become known throughout the gymnastics
community as a quality training facility for the highly competitive team program
as well as providing outstanding programs in the developmental and recreational
programs for physical education. Michigan Academy of Gymnastics has outgrown two facilities in 20 years! Our program was incorporated in August 1978 and our
first gym was opened in Garden City on October 1, 1978. Our second gym opened in Westland on Hix Road in December of 1986. Our present gym opened in June of 1994, next to our previous gym. The Westland gym has grown into a complete modern training center for boys and girls gymnastics with the ability to host high level regional training camps and clinics. The competitive teams of
Michigan Academy of Gymnastics have won numerous team and individual awards over the years.

Michigan Academy has branched out with an additional gym in Ann Arbor. Michigan Academy of Gymnastics purchased Not Just Gymnastics in Ann Arbor in 1989. Michigan Academy has promoted the same philosophy in the Ann Arbor facility, as in the Westland gym. The staff’s of both gyms receive the same training. Our goal with both of the gyms is to promote continuity and working together for a
common purpose. The competitive teams of Michigan Academy of Gymnastics have won numerous team and individual awards.
Competition in State, Regional and National level meets through both the USA
Gymnastics, AAU and United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs organizations. Participation in invitational meets throughout the United States and Canada.
Many alumni of Michigan Academy of Gymnastics have gone on to attend college as a result of their gymnastics abilities. Michigan Academy has had gymnasts on the following women’s collegiate teams, Ohio State University, Michigan State,

About the M.A.G. Staff
Michigan Academy of Gymnastics, Inc. , located in Westland and Ann Arbor, has experienced a tremendous growth in its enrollment over the past several years. This created a very special need in securing instructors with Olympic Level and sport educational credentials. The young gymnasts need instructors with the experience necessary to continue each individual’s growth potential within the structure of our "TOTAL PROGRAM".
There is "NO GUARANTEE" that each student will reach the Olympic Level in Gymnastics Competition! The Olympic Level accomplishment depends upon each gymnasts "Physical", "Mental", "Social" and "Psychological" development.
Michigan Academy of Gymnastics, Inc., has on its staff, many instructors
with proven records of developing gymnasts to National Levels of competition.
Michigan Academy selects its staff members with regards to the academic
achievements and athletic achievements. Our staff has great deal of experience
of either competing in gymnastics, teaching or coaching gymnasts at Local,
State, Regional and National Competitions. This standard is incorporated
into both the Boy's and Girl's Programs.
